The only white player to ever tour with the And 1 Basketball team. Known for his passing and dribbling skills, Boucher got his moniker “The Professor” ’cause he was the White scientist schooling everyone. Check out this video clip below of The Professor’s highlights during his 5 seasons with the And 1 Team.

Banned Air Jordans

The Original Air Jordans

Did you know that Michael Jordan was not allowed to wear the original Air Jordans in the NBA because they violated the league’s dress code?

Michael Jordan signed an endorsement deal with Nike in 1984, and in 1985 they released a pair of basketball shoes call the Air Jordans.  They were originally banned from the league because the league only allowed white basketball shoes at the time, and the Air Jordans were in black and red matching the colors of the Chicago Bulls.  Michael Jordan would be fined US$5,000 each game that he wore the shoes and violated the dress code.  Nike used this “scandal” to further promote their new superstar and his now famous shoes.  Nike then issued a statement that they would pay the fine each time that Michael wore his shoes on the basketball court.  And the rest was history… Nike revenues topped over 1 billion US dollars in 1986.

David Beckham with AC Milan

Injured David Beckham not likely to play in South Africa 2010

Injury rules Beckham out of South Africa

David Beckham’s dream of playing in a fourth World Cup looks to be over after he tore an Achilles tendon in AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo on Sunday.

He was unchallenged when he suffered the injury and hobbled off before being carried away on a stretcher.
The 34-year-old will fly to Finland on Monday for specialist surgery.
Beckham hoped to be part of England’s World Cup squad but coach Fabio Capello conceded the midfielder’s hopes of making the finals in June appear over.
“We have to wait for the results of the scan but it looks like he is out of the World Cup,” he said in a statement. “I spoke with him after the game on Sunday night to offer my support, as did Franco Baldini.
“David is a great professional and has worked very hard to be ready for the World Cup, so missing it will be a big blow.”

I have always been a Beckham fan since his days Manchester United. I know that Beckham may be past his prime and in the twilight of his football career, but he still deserved the respect of his opponents whenever he was on the pitch. Sadly, I think that this World Cup, in South Africa, will be the last time that we will ever see David Beckham wear an England Shirt. Footballers around the world will never forget the classic free kick against Greece in the dying minutes of the game that sent England to the World Cup in 2002.

Hidetoshi Nakata, Hot or Not

Hidetoshi Nakata Profile Pictue

Hidetoshi Nakata

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies. I found this commercial while searching for a video to upload, and I thought that this could be a great discussion topic. I’m not sure if this clip is old or not, but I think it was worth passing around to those lady readers out there. I can go on and on about what a great footballer Hidetoshi Nakata was, but I’m sure you’re not interested in that. I will mention however, that Nakata played on the Japanese national football team, and he certainly has a keen sense of fashion. Dubbed a fashion icon in Japan, Nakata can be seen wearing the latest designer outfits and regularly attending runway shows. More like the “David Beckham” of Japan I think. Check out the clip and tell me what your thoughts.
